In case you become stranded on the road this winter, make sure you carry a winter car kit that includes personal items such as extra coats, scarves, warm shoes suitable for snow, gloves, hats, blankets, water, snacks, and a first aid kit.
Your winter car kit should also have jumper cables and tire-changing tools (including a good spare), a shovel so you can dig yourself out and a bag of sand or kitty litter to put behind your axle for traction in the ice and snow. Add a flashlight with extra batteries, a good window scraper, and a bright piece of cloth to tie to your antenna, or hang out a closed window so you can be seen if you are stuck. Flares can also be helpful.
It is also a good idea to include warming pads to help protect you from the cold. Last but not least, keep a phone charger in your car in case you need to make an emergency call.
The most important tip not to be overlooked is preventive maintenance. With our maintenance special, you can winterize your vehicle and possibly avoid being stranded at all!
