Differential Service

The differential works with your transmission to deliver power from the engine to the axle that turns your wheels. The differential allows your vehicle’s wheels to rotate at different speeds during turns, without the wheel binding or hopping. If you have a rear-wheel drive vehicle, the differential is on the rear axle. If you have a front-wheel-drive vehicle, the differential function is handled by your transaxle. Of course, all-wheel drive vehicles have differentials on both axles.

Service Details

  • Inspect the differential fluid level, condition, and review the Original Equipment Manufacturer`s recommended replacement intervals

Why is differential service important for my vehicle?

  • Changing the differential fluid helps maintain the life of the differential gears
  • 4×4 and all-wheel drive vehicles place high amounts of stress on the critical transfer case. A properly functioning transfer case is paramount in these types of vehicles
